Centennial Celebration
Since 1910, your local American Red Cross has provided relief to victims of disasters and helped people prepare for, prevent and respond to emergencies. We achieve this life-saving mission through voluntary gifts of time, talent, money and blood from organizations and people just like you. .gif)

How can you support 100 years of service in the greater Capital Region?
The American Red Cross is the vehicle through which ordinary people perform extraordinary acts of generosity and compassion… and we want you to join us. Although we are proud of the countless number of lives we change and save each year, there is more we need to do. As we celebrate our last 100 years, we are asking greater Capital Region residents like you to join us as financial donors, volunteers or blood donors.
Your investment—whether time, money or blood—in our Centennial Celebration year will help us:
- Train more people in disaster preparedness and prevention. We want to expand access to programs and prepare our communities for disasters of all kinds more effectively than ever before.
- Recruit, train and maintain a volunteer corps of at least 1,300 members.
- Expand support services to members of the U.S. Armed Forces, as well as local veterans and military families.
- Grow our blood collection programs. Your local American Red Cross collects virtually all of the blood used by area medical facilities. However, only about 5% of those able to give blood actually do. You can help us schedule more blood drives and improve the donor experience.
- Strengthen our ties to disaster relief organizations and partners to ensure a coordinated, cohesive response to disasters.
With your help, we will be closer to achieving what the American Red Cross cannot do alone: raising the level of disaster readiness in the greater Capital Region, and training local residents to change and save lives.
The American Red Cross is only as strong as the community that supports it. Join us in our Centennial Celebration year, and make a real, measurable difference in your community. Please call us at (518) 458-8111 or contact us via e-mail to get involved now.
